Abstract
This academic paper discusses the ancient Egyptian language, hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics were the ancient Egyptian way of writing using symbols as letters to communicate. These ancient writings were used on papyrus scrolls, stones and tomb walls. The author of the academic paper discusses the brief history of hieroglyphics and explains its importance in the modern Egyptian culture to understand previous Egyptian civilizations.

Hieroglyphics was the ancient Egyptian way of writing using symbols as letters and words which means sacred carvings. Hieroglyphics were mostly used on tomb walls, stones and papyrus scrolls. Egyptians used to call hieroglyphics as the words of God and were mostly used by the priests. The language hieroglyphics is written in columns and rows and can be read from either side i.e. from right to left and left to right. The Egyptians invented the language nearly 4,000 years ago B.C., (Jathar, 2090).
