Abstract

This term paper examines three different types of eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, binge eating and bulimia nervosa and attempts to explain how these disorders can be controlled. The term paper also examines how dangerous these disorders can be if left untreated and what can be done to make more and more people aware of these disorders.

“The most common of these eating disorders is anorexia nervosa. The disease is also known as the “starving disease” where the sufferer eats nothing to maintain their body weight and exercise compulsively to meet the demands of being thin and excepted by the society. A typical example of anorexics is the models that are always obsessed with their body weight to keep in best shape to meet specifications of modeling. In most of the cases other people perceive anorexics having a normal body weight but the sufferer is never satisfied and keeps on starving and exercising compulsively. The disease is more of a psychological problem than a real one. They do not perceive the reality and keep on starving until their bodies become skeletons.
