Abstract
This academic paper defines child abuse and its emotional and social effects on children. Child abuse is very common in the world. There are many cases of child abuse where a child has been either verbally abused or severely neglected by own family members. Being adults and in command some people often from the family happen to abuse children sexually, physically or verbally. The affects of child abuse are very harmful for the child and can result in suicide. The author of the academic paper discusses what measures can be taken to prevent child abuse.

Child abuse is a form of neglect or misuse of authority by an adult over a child (Jaffe, 1986). The causes of child abuse could be mental illness where a parent may not be in his/her senses when abusing a child or may be severe financial crises due to loans and other reasons. Child abuse is a serious problem that must not be taken very lightly as it can effect a child’s mental growth. It can cause the child to withdraw from daily normal activities. It can cause severe depression among children and in some extreme cases can even result in suicide…
